Tradition of Afternoon Tea

On these cold winter days indulge in a quintessentially British tradition of Afternoon Tea.

Relax and refresh yourself with tea, coffee, sandwiches, pastries, cakes and perhaps even a glass of chilled champagne in the lovely surroundings of Hathaway's bar at Lea Marston Hotel.

The tradition of the afternoon tea dates back to the early nineteenth century when Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford is said to have complained of "having that sinking feeling" during the late afternoon. To revive herself, the Duchess had her servants bring her a pot of tea and a light snack.  Soon she began inviting her friends to join her for this additional meal in her room at Woburn Abbey. 
Before long, all of fashionable society was sipping tea and nibbling sandwiches in the middle of the afternoon. And so became the Afternoon Tea! 

 

Lea Marston Hotel's Fundraising

Each year Lea Marston Hotel chooses a local charity to support & help raise much needed funds.

Since April 2013, Lea Marston has been working to raise money for Birmingham Children's Hospital setting a target to raise £2 000 over 12 months.

By holding a bank holiday family fun day & BBQ, a ladies evening, Halloween party, a family Christmas party, the annual Christmas party for the staff at Lea Marston Hotel, plus any donations from the cloak room over Christmas, we have a total so far of £1780.54.

It's looking like we will reach our target well within the 12 months allocated, so a big thank you to all those who have helped & donated.
