Pre - Set Drill

I feel getting the first position correct in the swing is key to a consistent golf shot, often we see the club and club face going into poor positions early on in the swing, usually this will lead to many other faults throughout the swing. 

When I practise I like to pre - set the first position with the club running along my foot line and the club face 'square ' with the grooves pointing up, from here I will continue to TURN and hit the shot.

Annual Employee Awards

This week saw Lea Marston Hotel's annual gala dinner to celebrate employee long service and staff success, hosted by the family and hotel directors.  This year's dinner was attended by over 60 people comprising of hotel staff, partners and family.

On the evening guests enjoyed a drinks reception followed by a delicious three course meal designed by our head chef and his team. Celebrating long service is the core of the evening and staff members reaching a significant anniversary of 5,10,15,20 and 25 years’ service received vouchers, certificate and pin badge. Four members of our family were given special recognition on the night and recognised for being long standing members of the team, so special congratulations to:

Rachel Baldry – Front Office Manager (25 years)

On the evening we also announce our employee of the year award as voted for by the whole team. Nominees from employee of the month through our Charm program were all entered into this award category.

We were delighted to announce that Katie Mason our Group HR Administrator was the overall winner of employee of the year for 2016, so big congratulations to her and all the finalists that have done an excellent job.

Awarded Gold

Family-run Midlands hotel group strikes Gold to join elite UK club

A FAMILY-run hotel group in the Midlands has joined an elite club of employers across the country after being awarded the coveted Investors in People Gold status across its two establishments.

Lea Marston Hotel in North Warwickshire and the Abbey Hotel in Redditch have both been upgraded to the prestigious Gold award, making them the only hotels in Warwickshire and Worcestershire with the top accreditation.

Across the UK they join an elite list of hotels to have met the stringent criteria required of the Gold standard in people management.

The Lea Marston and Abbey hotels met 169 of the Investors in People evidence requirements, which raised them from Bronze straight to Gold.  Across the two hotels, 300 members of staff manage more than 200 rooms, as well as conference and banqueting facilities, restaurants, health spas and a golf course. 

Lea Marston and Abbey Hotel managing director, Tom Kirkham, said: “This is such a coveted award and shows just how hard we work to create a happy working environment. Our people are at the heart of our organisation and satisfied employees also translates into satisfied customers. We are like one big family.
“It’s been a busy few years for the hotels, with lots of investment and growth, and our team members have played a key role in that success. Over the next 18 months we will be working towards maintaining Gold status and even making further improvements where possible.”

As well as meeting all the general requirements set out as part of the Investors in People Standard, the hotels have been focusing on rolling out the employee branding that runs alongside the recent re-branding of the group. This included involving staff to create the strap line ‘delivering a warm welcome’ and the evolving the hotels’ vision and mission.

As part of the accreditation, an Investors in People spokesperson said: “The standard is a very challenging one to meet and is increasingly seen as a measure of a quality employer. Your success not only reflects your own commitment, but is also an acknowledgement of the effort of everyone who works for the organisation. I would like to congratulate you and your team on this excellent achievement.”
